Old and New

A really cool thing about Boston is that the modern skyscrapers rose up around so many historic and old buildings.
The old and new together. Seamlessly rising up into a modern city with nods to the past.

Ponyhedge

Pony girl, ride, ride away
I knew you'd break my heart someday...

Some folks get the call to go
Some folks are bound to stay...

{Pony Girl -- Fun Home}

In 2010, in a small pasture in Lincoln, Massachusetts, broken-down rocking horses began to appear. The small collection has been dubbed “Ponyhenge” and has become a place for people to deposit their old hobby horses for a new life in this peculiar art-ish display.

Much like the real Stonehenge, no one knows the real story, but once one was left in the field more came. Their arrangement is changed from time to time apparently and a few even had knitted caps on on this chilly winter's day.

Amazingly, no one takes them away – the arrangement only changes and grows. The family whose land Ponyhenge sits on loves the attraction. They told the Boston Globe in 2015, “There was something lovely about it being anonymous, and now every time we go away, another one appears.”

This may be one of the most amazing local sites I've seen. It was eery and beautiful. Sad and hopeful. A must see in Lincoln for sure!

The Good. The Random. The Fun v. 7

The Good:
We had a small snow storm mid-week and the day started with this stunning "red sky at morning." It was a pretty snow all day and totally worth that sky!

The Random:
These cute fellows arrived this week. Mom has a sick sense of humor. After battling the respiratory crud for a few weeks I now have a sinus pillow and lung pillow!

The Fun:
Marathon training update! I ran 16 miles (!?) over the weekend. Our team bussed us out to Framingham (mile 5) and our coach pointed east and went "go!" It was great because we could run the actual course in. I hadn't run long in 3 weeks due to being sick so just went out with the goal of learning the course. I ended up having a great run and really just got into the zone and clocked a great time!
I'm now 78% of the way to my goal AND for the whole month for every donation I receive I will be donating a book to the library system to say thank you!

Scarborough

I've been a news/politics junky since the high school days. I discovered Joe Scarborough and Morning Joe soon after it began 10 years ago and have been a daily viewer since then. I am pretty much in love with the whole gang: Joe, Mika, Barnicle, Willie, the lot.
In recent years, Joe found his passion for music and has been releasing EPs and performing around NY. I'm not usually into the Indie-Rock genre, but it was Joe so I had to listen...and fell in love with his sound and songs.
Last week on air he announced that Joe and his band would be in Boston at an annual benefit concert. After nearly falling off the elliptical I decided I had to get tickets (charity and Joe?!). I am not the go out to a concert on a Saturday night type of girl but I had myself right up there at the stage!
He is amazing in person (and tall!). He sang a few of my favorites and I was fan girling the whole time. He even made some great jabs at the current political climate!
And yes...Mika was there too! That was as exciting as hearing Joe sing! I've long admired her and her work in news and media and to see her *right in front of me* (see serious fan girl!).

Really an amazing night, so glad I went and had this in person experience!
